Literally decades in the making, Big Fancy Art and the pieces presented herein are the culmination of time and trauma, creativity, learning, love, success and failure, inspiration, and so much more. Each of these works are created with explosions of passion and creative energy, captured in oil on heavy canvas, in the hopes that they will reach others and connect on that level that cannot be spoken.

All of the paintings presently on the site are the work of Mat Richter, a SoCal native, current Irvine resident, a prominent advertising/branding designer and agency owner. Mat has been a professional artist and designer for the better part of four decades. Painting in his studio perched high above the city lights is where he feels the freest to explore and create works that are both striking and meaningful.
